Turn Anonymous Visitors into Customers

Visitors to your website are cloaked in anonymity until they voluntarily share their personal information with you by taking an action. That makes it difficult to know who is interested in your offerings. Being able to identify qualified leads from a website visit is the goal of savvy marketers. And that’s where website visitor identification tracking comes into play.

Web Visitor Tracing adds a piece of custom script coding to your site, so your data team can begin collecting critical information. Once a potential customer lands on your web page, our proprietary pixel identifies the visitor’s device ID and tracks the pages they visit. Next, the device ID is matched to our consumer databases, providing a name, postal and email addresses among other attributes in real time. You can now put a name to your visitor and you can gain insight into their customer journey by analyzing how they move through your website and what content they choose to consume. Unlike other data companies, we use the IP address only to verify and not as the primary source of identification. This gives us a higher rate for accurate matching.

This personalized data gives you the ability to match your message to the visitor’s preferred channels. This gives you the ability to optimize an omnichannel strategy to keep your brand message top-of-mind via direct mail, email campaigns, digital display and paid ads on search and social platforms.

With Sabal Group as your data partner, you’ll enjoy an advantage with our cutting-edge omnichannel capability to convert visitors into loyal customers.

Website Visitor Tracing FAQs

What is website visitor tracing?

This is an online service that can identify anonymous visitors to your website by matching the ID of a visitor’s computer or mobile device to listings in consumer databases. When we match 12 data points to an entry, the name, postal address, email address/es, and which pages on the website they visited can be provided in addition to other demographic data.

How does this service work?

A custom script of code is placed within the header of a website to track web visitors. Once a visitor lands on a page, the code fires and a series of real-time queries occur. Data is returned from 12 data points, a fingerprint is built, and a match process is run. While this sounds like a lot to do, it all happens in about 400 milliseconds or 0.004 seconds!

Starting with the device’s ID, data is gathered from national, verified, opt-in consumer databases.

How much time does a visitor need to spend on my website to be identified?

It takes literally less than one second for a visitor to be captured once they land on a page of your website that contains the code snippet.

Can I use website visitor tracing for B2B marketing?

Sabal Group does not recommend using this tool for B2B marketing because the consumer databases we use to identify individuals may not return accurate results for businesses.

Why should I invest in this technology?

Knowing who is visiting your website is an essential component in a strong acquisition and retention marketing strategy. Each visitor is a potential in-market lead who is actively engaging with your brand. For loyalty campaigns, knowing which customers visit and how they move through your website gives you the opportunity to create more relevant and personalized messaging.

What is the estimated match rate?

Our estimated match rate varies based on who your audience is, whether they have chosen to opt-in to certain databases, and other factors. That said, we can match about 95% of visitors with a name and postal address. Other data points may vary from 50-80%.
